Profile

Sophie uses printmaking to capture the beauty and fragility of the landscape. Printmaking techniques such as collagraph, monoprinting and drypoint etching are combined together to produce unique artworks which are built up layer by layer, creating texture and subtleties of colour. Dramatic coastal landscapes of Cornwall and Scotland are sources of inspiration, but also the gentler hills around Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire near where Sophie is based provide an ever changing landscape. Rich colours, rolling hills, atmospheric mists, woodlands and botanical finds all provide inspiration for new prints.
