Sarah Jane is a painter, illustrator and calligrapher based in Bath, UK.

Heavily influenced by her environments and travel experiences, Sarah’s work seeks to celebrate nature and biodiversity, focusing predominately on flowers, wildlife and architectural paintings that depict nature working in harmony with man-made structures and buildings.

It is hoped that through her artwork, the audience is reminded of how beautiful, delicate and fragile the natural world is and how important it is for us to look after it and to appreciate it. The small yet vitally important elements of the natural world are the building blocks of our whole ecosystem. Without the bugs, flowers and plants, our ecosystems would, simply put, fall apart.

Alongside painting, Sarah is a passionate calligrapher. Calligraphy is a meditative, therapeutic and emotive practice. Handwritten letters tell a story: the speed at which something was written, the form of the letters, and the pen, ink and writing surface used all add depth, memory, personality and beauty to text. The timeless practice of beautiful handwriting is something Sarah is keen to help keep alive no matter how much the technology we surround ourselves with evolves.
