Artist Profile

Oran Andrews

Medium: Painting

Oran was born in North Kensington, London. As a child, he moved to a council estate in a London overspill town in Hampshire.
From an early age, he was interested in drawing and later painting. Not a fan of school, he left with just one exam – art. He undertook an apprenticeship in hairdressing at the age of fifteen and soon after finishing, set up his own business. He also entered a long career within the antiques industry.
Oran’s busy career as a hairdresser, salon owner and antique dealer – along with a busy family life restricted his time to paint as much as he would have liked. He started painting seriously again during lockdown, and his career has excelled in a very short period of time.

Oran is a self taught artist and has been successful in exhibiting his work in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Bath and Birmingham. His work has also been acknowledged internationally.

He is now semi-retired and living on the East Devon coast.
Oran’s paintings are contemporary-Some portray old school still life – usually with a twist – and others have a nostalgic theme.

“I believe good quality art should be accessible and affordable to everyone… I would rather see gaps on my walls, than dust on my frames!”

Oran has been inspired over the years by works of the 19th Century Pre Raphaelite movement. He aspires to their ideology and romanticised thinking. As of late, his interest and emotions have been stimulated by the painting and story of ‘Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci.

Oran has an increasingly growing network of clients and contacts and is more than happy to discuss possible commissions.
