Artist Profile
Kirsty Moles
I am a painter inspired by the sea, rolling waves, wild beaches and stormy skies. I’m based in Wiltshire but my paintings are inspired by regular trips to the sea, mostly travels around my happy place, Cornwall, with my family.
I adore the sea; whether it’s watching the waves, being in the sea or walking along the beach, and I especially love a wild sea when the waves roar. I try to capture the feeling of a place in my paintings, though colour, texture and movement. I tend to paint with canvases on the floor, so I can pour, tip and drip paint, and watch how the paints merge together and move in their own directions, much like the waves and tides of the sea.
I started painting and crafting as a little girl, filling my family dining table with all sorts of creations. As a teenager I engrossed myself in my sketchbook, and then went onto study Fine Art at university. I then went into teaching and mostly made art with children. It is only recently (2025) that I have rekindled my love for art, and found that engrossing myself in colours and textures calms my busy mind.
