Artist Profile
Felicity Newman
Where is your happy place?
For the artist; Felicity Newman, it is the beach as it brings harmony to the mind, body and spirit.
The beach can provide, peace, fun, healing, adventures, and a sense of connection with nature, and something greater than ourselves.
Felicity grew up in a small town in Wiltshire, just 20 minutes from the beautiful city of Bath, with a deep desire to travel and explore, Felicity moved to live abroad and travelled to many of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Felicity then returned to the UK, finding home on the Dorset coastline which began the inspiration for Ocean Resin Art and was started in 2022.
Felicity is a self-taught artist and mixes resin with colour pigments, which is poured on to a solid canvas and blended to create deep ocean blues and shallow turquoise waters. White waves are added in layers and blown out with a heat tool to create the wave effects. Once the resin has solidified it creates a glassy finish and the sand is made with matt paint.
Felicity created her first exhibition at The Hatch Gallery in Christchurch, Dorset in October 2023 and has been creating commissions and attending fairs and Christmas markets.
The art is continually evolving as new inspiration arrives and Felicity has started to create horizons, with a sunset or night sky.
Every piece is completely unique, with a variety in sizes and commissions are welcomed.
Medium: Mixed media
