Artist Profile
emma laws
I’m Emma, a countryside photographer and the person behind Wild & Rooted.
I’m drawn to the quieter moments, where meaning often sits unnoticed. Through photography, I capture landscapes, animals, and rural life with honesty and intention — creating images that invite people to slow down and notice more.
In recent years, a period of illness forced me to pause in a way I hadn’t before. That time became a turning point. It gave me the space to reflect on how I wanted to live, create, and work, and Wild & Rooted evolved from that moment. What began as photography grew into a broader practice centred around slow living, thoughtful storytelling, and creating work that feels considered rather than rushed.
I’m drawn to simple, grounded stories — the way light moves across the land, the quiet presence of animals, and the everyday rhythms of rural life. Whether I’m photographing the countryside, working with small businesses, or creating prints and stationery from my images, I always begin with story and intention.
Wild & Rooted is about creating work that feels calm, meaningful, and lasting. It’s not about perfection, but about connection — to place, to people, and to the slower moments that often matter most.
