Artist Profile
Daniel Morley
I started off my artistic journey through realism painting. After about five years I was questioning my current work and trajectory. I’ve always enjoyed making and creating and have always played around with other processes on the side, but never felt that it could be part of my professional art practice. I realised that this was silly, and I have now incorporated it into my daily work, it is now an integral part of the art I make. I still limit myself though, the current project I am working on is suited to a specific aesthetic and I generally stick to mediums that I feel will allow me to say what I want to say the best. My current body of work starts off with a simple concept – an abandoned house that is not quite as it seems, it is full of symbolism and metaphors, and meaning. Using sculpture, painting, drawing, creative writing and sound, I will explore the house and its objects, it’s strangeness bleeding through into the artworks, manifesting the imaginary into something tangible.
