Artist Profile
Becca Ellis
Bristol-based oil painter Becca Ellis creates envisioned forms that highlight the duality of ‘vessels’ with the human condition, alongside the material potential of oil paint. She graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a BA in Fine Art Painting in 2023, marking a formative step in her development.
Ellis’ practice is driven by blurring the dialogue between physical connotations and felt experience, through extensive research into how we perceive emptiness. The historical object is transformed from its original purpose into a framework of philosophical inquiry. Underpinned by a continuous archive of sketches and studies, Ellis optimises the conduit, deciphering various ways of capturing the form and its underlying presence. In doing so, her work embodies a defiant force, embracing uncertainty and creation at its thresholds.
Her work has been exhibited in both London and Bristol, including Apsara Studio, Southwark Park Galleries, Bermondsey Project Space, Boomer Gallery, and The Mount Without.
